# Standard Mode

This page compares the syntax supported with `standard: true` against extended mode, and shows which component uses which mode.

## Which Component Uses Which Mode

## Functions Skipped in Standard Mode

With `standard` set to `true`, `transToHTML()` skips these six functions and lets the standard variants handle the syntax:

## Choosing a Mode

| Situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| You need code blocks or Mermaid | `new MDParser({ standard: false })` |
| Content comes from other Markdown tools and `^`, `~`, `==` must stay literal | Keep the default `standard: true` |
| Output must match the `MDViewer` preview | `standard: false` |
