Documentation 1.11.6

Standard Mode

This page compares the syntax supported with standard: true against extended mode, and shows which component uses which mode.

Which Component Uses Which Mode

Component Mode Switchable
MDParser Standard by default (standard: true) Pass standard: false to the constructor for extended mode
MDViewer Always extended No
MDEditor.download("html") Always extended No

Functions Skipped in Standard Mode

With standard set to true, transToHTML() skips these six functions and lets the standard variants handle the syntax:

Skipped Replaced by Lost feature
setPreCode Nothing Fenced code blocks (```) and Mermaid blocks; the source is output as-is
setMedia setMediaDefault Image size and alignment suffix (WxH left)
setLink setLinkStandard YouTube and Vimeo embedded players
setFont setFontStandard ==marker==, ^superscript^, ~subscript~
setBlockquote setBlockquoteStandard [!NOTE]-style alert boxes
setHashtag Nothing #tag links (MDParser never passes a hashtag path anyway)

Situation Recommendation
You need code blocks or Mermaid new MDParser({ standard: false })
Content comes from other Markdown tools and ^, ~, == must stay literal Keep the default standard: true
Output must match the MDViewer preview standard: false
